Brandon – My Son
How can I begin to tell you how much I love you and how much you mean to me?
From the beginning, you changed our lives forever. Your heart was kind and tender from the outset. As a toddler – so loving and trusting. I watched you grow and mature as a boy in mind, body and spirit. You challenged me to be a good father that would take discipline to let you walk forward, looking backward and cringe as you rammed your head into the door jam.
You have always been so diligent at pursuing whatever was occupying your mind. I remember having to force you to stop playing the violin after hours of practice. There are so many great memories of you, like the never ending touchdown run against Hendersonville JVs. The home run off of Reid Price at Berkley Park after fouling off at least seven pitches. The interception an ensuing touchdown runback at TC Robertson as the half ended. All the Berry to Berry receptions and TDs at East. And, of course, my favorite – the Hickory playoff game. But you showed the depth of your will and courage in the Brevard game and the “never give up” beating you took in the Reynolds game.
Although sports revealed your inner strength and dedication to what you believe in, it was just one tiny piece of who you are. I am so proud to watch you love on your own wife and children. I see the depth of your relationship with the Lord. You have wisdom and knowledge well beyond your years. I am in awe of how the Lord is using you, but mostly, I am humbled that God would let me be your Dad and am looking forward to the next 30 years with you.
Love,
Your Dad Forever
